EAT WELL, FEEL WELL
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT (and drink)
What you put into your body is important.
Everything you consume should, in theory, be beneficial to your overall health and well-being.
Everyone’s relationship with food is different…
There are a lot of ideas out there about what is healthy and while, we’re not experts, we do LOVE food and we find eating should be…
fun,
nutritious,
delicious,
aesthetic (okay - maybe that’s just us)…
enjoyed whether alone or shared
and ultimately make you feel GOOD.
food as fuel
Think of your body as a machine… and every machine needs the proper fuel to keep it going.
Find a healthy balance of nutritious foods AND “junk”. (Because no one can possibly eat perfectly clean all the time… AND be happy!)
Eating is, after all, a lifestyle… literally - for life.
There is no need for fad diets or guilt-ridden eating habits.
Simply find and do what works for You… your schedule, your budget, your life.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Short on time? Have to get everyone in order and out the door?
Here are a few hacks to simplify your process:
BLEND IT UP
If you find it difficult to eat a lot of fruits, vegetables during your day… blend it up.
There are plenty of high-powered, affordable blenders out there that can save you from a million dollar trip to Erewhon (IYKYK)… you don’t really need the Hailey Bieber smoothie everyday…
MEAL PREP
Plan a few meals for the week or just always make a little EXTRA dinner so you can have dinner… for lunch. Make an easy breakfast (hard-boiled egg with whole grain toast, avocado toast with lemon and Himalayan salt, peanut butter and banana sandwich, etc.)… nothing so elaborate that it takes all day to make… Time is of the essence.
EAT A BIG LUNCH
Try eating your heaviest meal at lunch… it really helps avoid overeating much later in the day. Having a sandwich and a big salad - can make a big difference.
You’ll be satiated and not feel super full.
You’ll also notice how LONG it takes to eat a giant salad.
You might even get full before you’re done!
HYDRATE
Sometimes you think you’re hungry but you’re actually - thirsty and need to drink water!
Not sure who said it but, “Don’t forget to drink water and get sunlight. You’re basically a houseplant with complicated emotions!”
MAKE TIME TO EAT
If possible, don’t skip meals.
Eat around the same time of day.
Don’t eat 3 hours prior to going to bed.
Enjoy cooking (or learn how) so you don’t buy lunch every day.
LIMIT JUNK/PROCESSED FOODS!
healing, feel-good properties
Ever notice when you’re feeling low in energy, moody, have poor focus or didn’t sleep well… you probably also didn’t eat / drink too well the day prior?
The healing power of food is a real thing. Avoid excess, practice moderation and really savor.
Modern medicine, vitamins/supplements, working out, etc. definitely have and play an important role in our health, but FOOD itself should be the source of the majority of your well-being.
Eating well means you can avoid things like indigestion, heartburn, and other uncomfortable issues by keeping your system well fed. You’ll have more energy, lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, etc. and it can even help manage/reduce depression.
Yes, EATING can actually make you HAPPIER. We all know “hAngry” IS A REAL THING…
food is community
Happy people feel lighter to be around.
Feeling good is contagious and others will notice your vibrant energy!
(You’ll glow from the inside out! Literally and figuratively as hydration and digestion play an important role in skin health.)
COME TOGETHER
Food is such a beautiful part of all of our different cultures and eating is essentially a celebration.
“Breaking bread” together is central to relationships of all kinds.
When it is a habit to eat well, you’re able to release feelings of guilt for enjoying something that’s maybe NOT so good for you…
You already know moderation is key. Don’t ruin your vacation, pizza at game night or a hot dog at a ball game because it isn’t “healthy”. Enjoy it and then CONTINUE to EAT WELL.
