LIVE WELL
forgive yourself
20 days into 2026 and it feels like it has been such a long year already…
How many of you have stuck to any resolutions you promised you’d stick to? Better yet, did you even make any this year?
A few weeks ago, we took pen to paper and set out to be as optimistic as possible about our goals for this year in all areas: business, health (fitness/mental/spiritual), relationships, etc.
We even circled back to some goals from last year and replaced some with a few new ones. Sometimes you outgrow things you wanted simply because you’re a different person now.
While we wholly believe in setting goals, intentions, and generally being very organized and disciplined, we have found there has to be room for being real with yourself. We believe living well allows space and flexibility for both.
Not every day will you feel your best or optimize your to-do list to the letter.
Whatever the case may be for you personally, forgive yourself for anytime you have been too hard on yourself, anytime you missed your goal, anytime you decided to have that martini instead of sticking to “dry/damp” January.
Did you know, most people have quit their New Year’s “Resolutions” by the 2nd Friday of January every year, dubbing it “Quitter’s Day”? It doesn’t mean those people are “failures”… but it does highlight that putting so much pressure on yourself can have the opposite effect you seek.
Life is hard enough - making yourself feel worse, not only doesn’t help you, it is simply unnecessary.

CLEAR YOUR ENERGY
If it isn’t apparent already, please know we take self-care rituals very seriously here at LEISURE & JOIE.
Living well truly is a lifestyle and especially so when you’re on a path to bettering yourself.
In our experience, rituals help you stay connected to yourself, focused, and help you back on track should you falter.
Here are a few of our favorite (and FREE) suggestions to clear your energy and do a quick reset.
Let natural light and fresh air into your space first thing in the morning
Sage your space in the morning and again as you get ready for bed
DON’T SCROLL 1st thing or before bed
Take a shower… YES, a shower! (We’re sure you do this at least once daily, RIGHT? RIGHT??! lol) Having a citrus scent, eucalyptus, or lavender will help ease you into your morning or help you start winding down before bed
Have some calming tea or warm water with lemon
Sit in silence for a few minutes (if you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious, this really helps)
Don’t let the pressure of “New Year, New Me" get to you. Remember, you can reset any day, at any time…
Day 1 can is whenever you make it. The point is that no matter what, you stay aligned and in the direction of your inner compass with the things bring you joy and fulfillment.
Living well means knowing that even if things aren’t perfect or if you aren’t where you think you should be in life, you’re not behind and you’re not in a race. There is a clock running that no one can see, just make sure you’re actively choosing what living well means on your terms.

stay true
A very important part of living well is being honest with yourself about how you are living.
Are you living up to your potential? Is there some inner work/healing you need to do? Are you able to be intentional with every Yes and No you give? Are you careful in who you give your time and energy to?
Part of knowing where you are going, is where you have been, and where you never want to go again.
Really give yourself time to think on what your next move should be.
Acknowledging areas in which you know you can improve, is a great place to start.
Write the way you’d like your life to look in the next few months, years, and see where you can start, correct, or continue the path to get there.
Being honest with yourself isn’t always easy, but it IS necessary. Actual change is only possible, when you look at your life from a lens of radical honesty, and decide its time to live well once and for all.
