RELEASE AND RENEW
spring is here
As of 8:06pm PDT¹ tonight, 03/19/24, we cross over into a new season - SPRING.
With it, comes the natural urge to release and renew. Like a butterfly that has been cocooning all winter, the time has come for each of us to welcome new weather and new energy.
Spring has such a beautiful and effortless way of easing us into newness. If you’re anything like us, you’ll find yourself to be automatically and significantly happier when the days are more sunny and bright.
As it happens, your mood is a little more positive and you move forward with a bit of brightness in your step.
OPTIMIZE YOUR TIME
With the longer days, come “more” time. Longer days naturally give you more daylight, therefore, more actual perceived time. Though you have the same 24-hr period available to you as always, suddenly, that same time seems longer. In fact, do you notice how you’re able to squeeze in quite a few more moments and activities within your day?
While it is true that you may have initially “lost” that 1-hr of sleep, you have gained a bit more daylight. That PERCEIVED additional time - is INVALUABLE.
You may find yourself tempted, naturally gravitating toward, adding MORE to your plate because of this. DON’T fall for this trap! Believe it or not, it is scientifically proven (we certainly didn’t figure it out lol - someone did though!) that you can accomplish MORE and better, more meaningful work, by doing LESS.
Instead of piling on more, take extra care and ensure you are prioritizing and choosing strategically, targeted actions that also match you energetically. MORE does not automatically mean - more ACCOMPLISHED. If you find you’re better and more focused earlier in the day, maybe choose to do your most difficult tasks first so you’re then “free” later on in the day. Vice versa works, too.
Schedule breaks into your day so it doesn’t feel like you’re a hamster on a wheel.
Don’t you agree it would be to your benefit to secure that “additional” hour for YOURSELF?
As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe² used to say, “Less is more”.
time to transition
As the days get warmer (Thank goodness home is Los Angeles!), you may find you need your “winter” gear less and less. You may also feel inclined to change up your style, your hair, etc.
The beginning of Spring can be a bit like peeling a layer away. Winter is fading and a fresh start is just around the corner.
At LEISURE & JOIE, we believe and lean into that idea.
Here are a few things that help us with the transititon into Spring.
Open the windows each morning and let the fresh air in
Add some live plants or flowers to beautify your space
MINIMIZE - donate, sell, give away things you no longer want or need (They don’t call it “Spring Cleaning” for nothing!)
Update your bedding - lighter fabrics, lighter color scheme
Spend more time outside in nature
One of the most beautiful things about entering a new season is that feeling of closing one chapter and entering another. Yes, there is always an element of uncertainty, yet, there is something so refreshing and inspiring about the sense of hope that comes with a season’s change.
Enter this new segment of your life with joy and optimism, believing good things are always possible for you and release those things that hold you back.
